A stack of new riders and some outstanding personal performances on the track made for some exciting battles as the Baxter & Neilson Junior Racing held its second series on Friday night.

Under 13 Girls
This was a close contest between Emily Paterson & Lucy Dawkes with Emily reversing the result from round one & taking the leader’s jersey. Well done to Emily.

U13 Boys
Here we had the welcome addition of three new faces and two with only a couple of race nights under their belt. These guys showed great potential and were not afraid to have a go to try and steal a winning break on the two more experienced riders in Josh Miller and Hunter Gough. In the first time trial event these two had the exact some time and provided exciting finishes in their next two races with Hunter prevailing to take jersey for the first time this series.

U15 Girls
It was great to have six new or nearly new faces in this grade line up against the experienced Madeleine Gough. Madeleine took a clean sweep but will have to watch out as a couple of the girls are setting right on her wheel and with more racing experience they will be certainly challenging her. Madeleine showed great courage to get back on her bike and win the last scratch race after crashing on the neutral lap. Unfortunately for Madeleine she later found out she broke her arm in two places. Wish you a speedy recovery Madeleine.

U15 Boys
This jersey will be hotly contested with a number of riders capable of pulling on the leader’s jersey. Samuel Miller got the nod over Kain Bowles a due to him winning the flying lap after they both finished on 5 points.

U17 Girls
Emma Cumming continued her good form to retain the leader jersey but is being pushed hard by Makayla Smith with the next four places also closely contested.

U17 Boys
A good field in this grade ensures some close and exciting racing. This grade also saw a 6 point tie between round 1 winner Brayden Stevens and Hamish Beadle with Hamish taking home the jersey courtesy him winning the time trial.

Spot prizes
Tim Lawrie – Most gutsy
Bradly Knipe – Best performance first time sub 38 sec for 500 TT
Keegan Knipe – Best attack of the night

Congratulations to all the jersey and spot prize winners. Thanks you Baxter & Nielson for their sponsorship and to all the helpers on the night. Here’s hoping Marie isn’t unavailable to many more Friday nights!
