The H&J Smiths Outdoor World team has lifted its final position to fifth in the teams classification at the end of its debut season in the Benchmark series.

Hamish Presbury was the best of the Southlanders in the final 140km race in North Canterbury, coming home eighth.

Lachie Shannon and Cameron Karwowski both had a good day riding on the front of the main group.

Karwowski later suffered a mechanical issue which meant he could not contest the bunch sprint.

Sequoia Cooper and Beth Hamilton both suffered punctures, effectively ruling them out of contention in the women's race.
