Happy Tuesday team and wowser what a Commonwealth Games it has been for our Track Cycling Team!!

There has certainly been much reason to be sleep deprived over the past few days and we hope you are all recovered – or you may well be still caught up in the all the other events, many of which are also providing tremendous results.

Huge congrats to our local lads Tom, Eddie, Matt and Pieter on their well-deserved and hard-earned medal successes – a massive accomplishment that has taken countless hours of dedicated commitment. Also a big congrats to our Stephie who came soooo close but certainly did herself proud by really sticking her hand up as someone who will be changing the guard of some world greats in the very near future! It was a tremendous effort all round to tally up 11 medals and we wait with baited breath to see how the roadies fare in their quest to topple the cycling Games record of a total of 12 medals – should be achievable with such a great hit-out on the boards.

It is incredibly timely to remember that it all started on the boards here at the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome and how instrumental the ILT has been as well in ensuring this facility was first made available to our national representatives a little more than eight years ago now! Our community funders, sponsors and supporters are all a valuable and hugely appreciated reason for the success of our track cyclists here in the south and both nationally and internationally.

Cycling Southland 2014 AGM
The Cycling Southland 2014 AGM took place on Thursday 24 July and we would like to formally welcome our new Executive team;

Lindsay Jordan – President
Tony Hammington – Vice President
Toni Green
Tony Ineson

The selectors were also confirmed at the AGM and consist of Dave Beadle, Erin Criglington and Waine Harding.

Copies of the 2014 Annual Report are available from the office.

Club Omnium Series
This Friday is the final day to register for our inaugural Club Omnium event. Entries are coming in strongly and it is guaranteed to be a great event for many Corporates, Corporate Pursuit participants and recent newcomers and intermediate riders down at our track. To find out all about it and get your entries in click here

Lock Up Under Track Secure
The lock up under the track is now fully secure again – thanks for the new super-duper heavy duty lock donation and installation Ant Leathart and Maree Wilkins – much appreciated. They have also put us on to a new-fangled key safe, which will be mounted on the wall imminently with the lock up  key in it. It will have a password for club members needing access to their stored equipment under the track for sessions and the ERGs and “Bob’s your uncle” we’ll be away laughing moving forward. Until the new key safe is mounted, access is via arrangement with us at the office or by key from the office, so if you’re wanting in out of hours let me know to arrange a plan.

Friday Night Junior Racing
Racing as normal for juniors from 6-7pm, then take on the new ILT Stadium climbing wall from 7-8pm – just $10 per head for climbing and $5 for racing. See you there.
