Hello everyone and a very big good luck and race well to all of you who are heading up to Alexandra this week for the Club Road Nationals.

A team of around 50 are taking on the champs from Southland and more than 600 entrants are competing from around the country. All the best and we hope you all do really well and enjoy the racing as well. We cannot wait to share the results as they come to hand.

Remember Alan Strong is looking after things and he will be using our Cycling Southland Facebook page for messaging so keep an eye out there. Check out his first post here

Don’t forget to swing by the office and grab your Cycling Southland road tops $80 to buy or $10 hire. Good luck everyone!

From your Manager to all Road National Competitors

Hi Team
I will have race packs available after the managers meeting on Wednesday night and again before the TT and road races from 8am till midday each day just look for Cycling Southland sign or my vehicle or call me on 027 378 7877. If you want your race pack on Wednesday night you will need to come to me between 7 and 8.30pm at the Earnscleugh Hall on Earnscleugh Road, which is on the opposite side of the river to the Alexandra township (back road) and runs from Alex to Clyde.

A reminder that you cannot ride shorts with any logo or naming unless they registered on your licence. Refer to Communique 1 at the link below under - 7. Riders Apparel.  I strongly suggest riders read this as a lot of the questions I have had so far are answered here.

Communiques
There are currently three Communiques loaded on the website for your info, the first one is a general information about the event and the next 2 are the Entry lists for the Time Trial and the Road Race.  Please keep an eye on this page as the commissaries load any other information for this year’s event.

There has been some resent changes to the regulations on bike set up. The most notable is that the seat can have a maximum angle of nine degrees from horizontal. Check it out here: http://www.uci.ch/inside-uci/rules-and-regulations/regulations/

Cheers Alan

Feedback
Venture Southland, in conjunction with the various local government agencies and other organisations, is developing a regional cycling strategy and they want to hear from cyclists. It would be great if you could take a few minutes (it took us two minutes to complete) to click on the link and give some feedback around your perception of cycling – either as a recreational rider, commuter or competitor – in Southland.
