Southland Road Champs
Otatara Retreat Time Trial – Saturday 23rd September – McQuarrie Street

TES Road Race – Sunday 24th September – Gorge Road Circuit

After much consideration and discussion within the club we have made this year’s club champs a graded event. To continue the growth we have seen since the start of our race season we are trying to provide an even competition and encourage more to participate. Those juniors that are currently racing within A, B or C Grade will need to ride in the junior section for this event.

Please enter online here so we can work out Time Trial start times throughout the week.

Track Sessions
Tonight is an Open Club Roll from 6-7pm followed by Endurance Squad.

Due to a full day of school bookings on Friday 29 September, Cyclofit will finish a little early and there will be no Lunch Roll sorry.

Prize Giving
Prize giving will be held on Friday, September 22, from 7.17pm at the Waikiwi Bowling Club (turn at Countdown on North Rd, then right into Fraser St). A plate for a shared supper/dessert is required as your entry ticket and the bar will be open.
Awards nominees can be found here. The awards period relates to efforts made in the 12 months between May 1 2016 and April 30 2017. Special awards will also be presented on the night.
This is a great opportunity for members to gather, celebrate the past year’s successes and look forward to the future season in a friendly social atmosphere.

Ride Leader
Do you love cycling and want to share your passion and knowledge with others? Southland is getting its own FREE Ride Leader programme and we want you to be part of it! Check out the video here.

The Ride Leader programme trains people to lead cycle groups and ensure they know how to ride in bunches, indicate, look over their shoulder while riding in a group and behave courteously to other users on shared pathways and the road. This would be ideal for those riders who run rec rides or want to start one – it doesn’t matter whether it’s a ride on the road, on pathways or on trails.

The workshop will focus mainly on practical training for leaders, using shared pathways and quiet roads.
There will be a workshop in Invercargill on Saturday, September 30, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. For more details or to register, email ride@cyclingnewzealand.nz or phone 07 823 0716.

European Racing

So that is more than enough to digest for this week, so keep warm and dry until this Spring turn for the worst passes.
