The roof was lifted on Tuesday night as competitors battled it out in the women's individual final of the Lone Star Speights Roller Racing. As the noise levels rose the four finalists found another gear to lift their efforts in what was the race of the night. A blink of eyelid is all that separated the finalists with Elisha Houghton from Fonterra getting the nod from the judges. Only moments earlier her team mate Craig Fleming displayed his strong form by taking out the men's final which had two other Fonterrra members alongside.
To top off the cleansweep for heat 3, Fonterra 1 lowered the best time set in the previous two weeks with a time of 1:44.121.
The following eight teams will now contest the grand final next Tuesday night:
Fonterra 1, SBS Bank, Speedy Radcliffe, Whytes Gravel Supplies, Mitre 10 Mega, Environment Southland, Opus International Consultants and EIS Group. On the night the draw will be done to establish the starting order with the top two teams going through to the final. Racing starts at 7:00pm at the Lone Star Invercargill.
Teams now refocus for the Crowe Horwath Corporate Time Trial on Sunday starting at 2:00pm at the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome.
