A great turn out of 54 riders attended the McQuarrie Street Mass Start road race that took riders 25km to Gorge Road for a return race back to McQuarrie Street on Saturday afternoon after Brian Broad’s Funeral.
The weather was fine, with a small sprinkle of rain and then a head wind on the way home to mix things up.
Hamish Keast brought home the goods in first, second was our new import from Cambridge La'chlan Roberston with Blake Tait-Jones in third. Sophie-Leigh Bloxham took out the women's race and the first junior was Oliver Borrie.
Special Prize to Alistair [Red] Burnett – For looking after the youngsters at the end on the Peloton area!
And thanks to Marty Lohrey for managing the race, Robin Criglington for his endless efforts with registrations and this report and Lindsay Jones for STMS and the marshalls and volunteers. Next weekend is the Waianiwa-Drummond-Waianiwa Handicap.
