Hi on a glorious Southland spring day, the nights are getting longer and with the help of daylight saving this weekend it’s going to get even better soon!

Daylight saving also means the return of Wednesday Worlds, which a scheduled in your race programmes on 23 October following Yunca etc. This may yet be brought forward a week to the 16th so watch this space.

This Saturday our Southland trio of Erin Criglington, Neil Jamieson and Roger Nicholas depart bound for the Manchester World Masters Track Champs, which run from 6 to 12 October. There they will be joined by fellow Cycling Southland member and seasoned masters campaigner Simon Lusk, from Wellington. The crew have had some great build up to for their adventure and we all wish them the very best of luck for an exciting trip, awesome experience and some pleasing results. Good luck gang – make sure you do enjoy yourselves as well and send lots of updates!!

Buy-A-Bike & Velodrome Signage Fundraising
The Finance Committee has developed a rider fundraising initiative which has launched this week. We have developed a new sponsorship utilising our velodrome Club bikes where local businesses can feature their name along the top bar, as well as an option of a fully-customised paint job in their business colours. We are also making available Velodrome track-side advertising signage space for sale. Initially, un-carded riders who have gained New Zealand selection over the last year will be able to sell these limited sponsorships with a nice little fundraising incentive and then subject to interest, we will look to offer this to a wider cross-section of the club. This will of course be overseen by the Finance Committee to ensure we are looking after sponsors, but it will hopefully be a good way to make a few bob as a rider and turn into a great fundraiser for the club. We will be communicating with our initial group of riders over the next few days, but if you are interested in registering a future interest or, as a business owner, are keen to get in on the action, drop us a reply and we’ll get in touch with information [email protected]
