Happy 1st of October!!
Another month bites the dust and that means it is “go” time as the myriad of events kick off in earnest this weekend .
Well the kids are about to descend in town for the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland, which launches at Teretonga this Friday. More than 140 riders from Australia and all over New Zealand will be arriving in town over the coming days for some epic racing over the weekend. Make sure you head out and check out the action because there will be some truly awesome racing. View the programme here
Junior Track Carnival
Don’t forget we have our ILT Junior Track Carnival being held on the evening of Tuesday 8th October following day one qualifiers of the New Zealand Schools Track Champs – post Yunca. Make sure you get online and register here
A programme will be posted imminently and will be draft – subject to entries in age groups.
Rockets on Today
The regular Rockets session will run today from 4-5pm for those wishing to attend.
New Membership for 2020 Opens Today
Cycling New Zealand membership for 2020 opens on Tuesday 1 October. 2019 licences are valid until 31st December unless a 2020 licence is issued prior, which will then make the 2019 licence no longer valid.
Please note that if you purchase a 2020 licence before 31st December, this is the age category you will compete in for the remainder of the 2019 calendar year.

Oceania Volunteers – if you are volunteering for the Oceania Track Champs, thank you! We are very grateful for your help in being able to run this international event.
There is a Volunteers catch-up set for Sunday 13th October 3pm – 4pm in the Champions Lounge at the Velodrome. Please pop in between this time to collect your accreditation and/or volunteer top which is required for the event. There will be a direct email sent to all volunteers specifically on this over the coming days.
High Performance Strategy
Cycling New Zealand High Performance Director Martin Barras will present Cycling New Zealand's High Performance Strategic Plan for 2020-2028. All in the cycling community are welcome to attend.

Wednesday Worlds
The race date start has been deferred to start until 16th October due to safety concerns with the light so soon after the daylight savings change. There was no race scheduled for next week due to the NZ Schools Champs.
Equipment
Calling all hi-vis vests, radios, flags……any cycling equipment that might be rolling around in your car - we need these to be back into the office ASAP for us to deliver the key events that are coming up.
Road Race
The Property Scouts Criterium was held on Saturday on the Appleby Criterium in some dubious conditions.

Hoodies – There are still some samples in the office for anyone that wants to pop in and try these on. Pricing for the hoodies is $60.00 adults (Small sizing upwards) and $55.00 for kids sizes (14 sizing and below).

Elite & U19 Track Nationals Expressions of Interest
We have secured a group flight booking with Air NZ for the Elite and U19 Track Nationals in Cambridge. The flights depart Monday morning 20th Jan Invercargill - Auckland direct, and return Monday evening 27th Jan Auckland Invercargill direct, the cost is $318, with $100 deposit to be paid to Cycling Southland by 1st November and the remaining $218 due by 15th December.
We have secured accommodation at Hamilton Holiday Homes which we have used for Age Groups Last year and National Track Series.
If you want to be involved in this team package please advise the office. Obviously the team is subject to selection, if you want to discuss this please contact a club selector.
