Tonight is Club Racing from 5-6.45pm to allow people to attend the DrugFree Sport NZ seminar (see below) and Endurance Squad is 7-9pm.
U15 and Sprint Squads still run on Monday but all Tuesday sessions are cancelled due to the full day of allocated team training times.
Due to the early arrival of some teams, there will be Endurance/Masters Squad this Sunday 9am-11am, however there will not be a 3-5pm session as bookings run throughout the day and into the early evening.
Southern Hub will be 12.30-2.30pm this Sunday
There will be no Learn to Ride or Flyers next week 21 and 23 February or 7 and 9 March
Drug seminar
At the request of our coaches, we have organised an educator from DrugFree Sport NZ to present to Cycling Southland riders on Tuesday February 13 at 7pm. All riders (particularly junior members and their parents) who are intending to compete at the national championships this year – both road AND Track – are asked to attend this.
It will take about an hour and provide an invaluable insight into what substances are banned and how to manage prescribed medications, as well as an opportunity to ask questions.
Club racing will begin at 5pm that night and finish in time for the presentation at the velodrome (room TBC). If you are unable to attend, please provide the reasons to your coach, who will in turn pass on to the office to keep a record.
It is expected that all riders will attend this to ensure they are familiar with their responsibilities around drugs in sport.
Road Racing
This Saturday is the Mend Physio Myross Bush circuit. Assembly: Myross Bush Hall 1.00pm , for 1.30pm racing.

Vital Signs Tour de Lakes
Don’t forget to get your entries in now entry form and details – remember it is a new format and course this year which will make for a fresh and fun tour.
Road Nationals
Expressions of interest are sought from those considering competing in the Age Group Road Nationals in the Wairarapa from April 20-22 (middle weekend of the school holidays). It’s thought there may be about 10 riders who might attend, so we’re hoping for a co-ordinated approach. If you can contact the office by February 28 and the details will be passed on to the appropriate people.
Social Club
Expressions of interest are also sought for any member keen to become involved in a social committee to organise some social functions for members. The topic was discussed at the Junior Div committee meeting and there was support for a group to be formed. Any member keen on getting involved please contact [email protected] or let the office know.
Missing Wheel
Following on from the reminder about not touching wheels from the club bikes, can we also ask for the return of a Junior Div wheel – it’s a blue-hubbed anodised back wheel. Please check to see if you have it lying about and arrange its return.
Trading Post
Some new items are now online on our buy and sell web page. Remember you just have to send me a pic and all the details of any items and I’ll post them online When they have sold please let me know so I can take them off.
Coaching
If anyone has an interest in coaching or assisting with coaching, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with either Mark in the office or coaching co-ordinator Sid Cumming. We’re always opening to develop our coaching base and utilising the skills of our members. So if you’re interested in being involved in some way, do get in touch.
Disc Wheel Wanted
Does anyone have a rear disc wheel one of our new Masters riders can trial before Age Groups so she can decide whether or not to buy one? Let me know please
That’s one epic instalment for this week so I’ll leave you all to get on with the rest of the week!
Take care
