Wowee folks – what an outstanding result overall for our junior and masters representatives in Cambridge last week – you all absolutely outdid yourselves with your individual and team efforts and the overall points tally to bring home our beloved National Points Shield for a record 8th year in a row! While a little difficult to extract results during the event, Nathan at The Southland Times has backed us up with a fab article today so that’s jolly good. A huge pat on the back to Sid and Melanie for guiding everyone through the gruelling five days of eventing, along with the rest of the loyal team of helpers – Alex, Garry, Gerald, Steve and Nick - and supporters who joined for the long haul. We are truly proud of all our athletes for their hard graft over some busy months of dedicated training. It’s a big commitment – but what an outcome. Truly proud of our Elites and Under 19s who set the mark and then our Age Groupers who rose to the challenge and topped the icing off with a juicy, fat cherry! We hope you all get a bit of a rest and then our juniors get raring to go for our Secondary Schools Road Champs next Tuesday at Teretonga!
Secondary Schools Road Champs – Volunteers Please
Speaking of this event we’d love to hear from anyone please who can lend a hand next Tuesday 24 March at Teretonga. It is a very cool day of racing and we have a quite a troop coming from Dunedin, Wanaka and the likes so it’s guaranteed there will be some cool racing. Email Rabbit (Danielle) [email protected] if you can help us out please.
Southland Road Champs
On Saturday 29 and Sunday 29 it is our 2015 Southland Road Champs with the Road Race at Te Tipua on Saturday and the Time Trials at McQuarrie Street on Sunday Register here now as entries close Monday 23 March. Again, we need some willing helpers to lend a hand for Race managers Tony Hammington and Alan Strong who have very kindly taken the reins for these two days.
Again please let Rabbit know [email protected] if you are free – always very much appreciated thank you!
Saturday Racing
Can all those who intend racing on Saturdays please ensure you register – last week the race was called off due to low numbers (we cannot run a race if the costs of STMS etc are not covered). All riders who had registered were contacted directly by email through the registration system and notified that the race had been called off – it was also sent out via SportCheck in a text message. We are then told that a number of riders turned up to race?? Sorry but you were clearly not expected to be there and you could have been the difference of the race going ahead – we DO NOT want to be in the position of cancelling road racing if there is a chance they can go ahead please,
If you want to ensure you are notified of cancellations you must either be registered online Register here for this Thursday’s Windsor Physiotherapy Criterium and Register here now for this Saturday’s Browns Graded race – Gabby if you are unable to manage this weekend please organise some cover – same with appointed marshalls please – or you can sign up for text alerts here as a back-up. You can check who is down for weekly duties by viewing the road racing calendar. Thank you for your help!

National Road Champs
Entries are now open for Club Road Champs in Hawke’s Bay with entries closing on Sunday 29 March Can anyone who is going or intending to go please notify Danielle [email protected] so we can ensure everyone has all the necessary information, road tops and the likes so the messaging and co-ordination of riders can be managed. Also if anyone wants to put their hand up to manage the crew while up there please let us know too.

Vital Signs Tour de Lakes
Entries close this Friday 20th March and entries after this will incur a late penalty – so get entering now! And make sure you spread the word to anyone who may be thinking about it. You can also check out the great accommodation offers from venues along the route on the website as well. Several are offering great discounts.
A reminder for anyone keen to lend a hand to contact Dunny [email protected] – It’s going to be another great weekend.
Club Track hire bikes
It has come to our attention that some club members have been removing wheels etc from our club bikes if they puncture during a session and not replacing them properly when finished. On several occasions recently our club bikes have been left with a wheel not being properly reinstalled – which could cause a major accident with others using them in day-to-day sessions and causing even more work for the hard-working coaches who commit to taking these sessions for us! A reminder that we do have security surveillance in the building and you will be caught if doing this!
Track Cleaning
Members attending track sessions can expect to see when the track has been cleaned through a new notification system from the team at the Stadium following a new service agreement being put in place. The track will be mopped four times weekly, vacuumed once a week during the weekend and the signage will cleaned once a fortnight.
Lifting Netting for Sessions
If any authorised coaches require the court surround netting to be lifted whenever possible during track sessions, you can request Stadium staff to carry this out for you.
One final reminder everyone that the Track is closed tomorrow Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19th for the dairy women’s conference. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Have a ripper week out there in the big wide world.
