Hi out there and phew, it’s a busy old week again here as we get ready to rumble for the C1 Para-cycling Track Open and Southland Track Champs, which are being held from 6pm this Friday night and again from 10am on both Saturday and Sunday.

Entries are great with 138 from all over the country, including a Para team from Australia and one rider from Russia as well. Bruce and I flat out like lizards drinking to get everything ready in time and we’ve been lucky to be joined by our girl Friday Nic Morris in the office for five hours a day – and all this as the volleyball sand exits the building and the clean-up following the weekend’s beach volleyball event continues.

All Track Champs rider entries, the programme and track allocated training time is available to view online here

Please note that due to the large entries and extensive programme, the Saturday session has now been split into two from 10am to approximately 3pm, with a short break before resuming from 6pm to 9pm.

So first things first, if you are able to lend a hand at any time over the weekend and haven’t already done so – please let us know. Otherwise, ensure you head down to the track to cheer everyone on as there is going to be awesome racing across the age groups and the sessions will be quite full.

Senior Racing tonight
Due to work commitments, Waine in unavailable to run racing tonight, so please organise racing dependent on who is there and numbers in attendance.

Cancelled sessions this week
Due to the Southland Champs, all track sessions from Wednesday onwards are cancelled this week sorry.
Wheelers and Flyers will hold their final two sessions for the term next week.

Wednesday Worlds
Due to major road works, the Rimu school prizegiving and then refurbishment of their toilet block until school restarts at the end of January, Wednesday Worlds will continue to be raced on the Tisbury circuit for the reminder of races this year, finishing up on 18 December.

Saturday Racing
There is no race this weekend but the final race for the year will be the annual Niagara Café Handicap on Saturday 13 December. Enter online here A reminder that we need 25-30 entries to ensure these races go ahead, otherwise we are not covering the costs of the traffic management planning and services.

Track and Rider Charge Increases
With no increase in rider fee charges at the Velodrome in more than three years, we are going to be implementing small increases from the New Year to both track user charges and rider fees.

View all details here

While some of the charges may seem to be fiddly when dealing with a cash – it is timely to remind everyone that concession cards are the easier and more economical way to go. You can purchase from the office and it is also easy to contact me to arrange a card to be put in a folder and pay by internet banking – so it saves a trip to the office.

Fundraising Opportunity
There is a fundraising opportunity for anyone attending the Track Nationals on the morning of Saturday 13 December at Dr Johri’s office in Don Street – as numbers involved are limited it will be a first-in, first served basis of selection. If you are keen contract Andrea [email protected] or phone 027 345 9381
