Hello everyone for a soggy Tuesday out there – at least those driving winds that held the SBS Bank Tour of Southland riders back yesterday have abated as they prepare to take on the mighty Bluff Hill stage today. Don’t forget to keep in touch with the daily live commentary, results, photos and videos Here on the Tour website There’s certainly plenty to keep us up to date with the daily progress.

Road Racing
A reminder there’s no Cycle Surgery and Zookeepers Wednesday Worlds this week due to resources being out on tour, this will resume next week. Also there will be no road race this Saturday but the Versatile Homes and Buildings Thornbury race – the final in the points series will be held the following weekend 14 November with the earlier race times of 10am reporting for a 10.30am start kicking in. Baxter & Neilson Junior Race Series
Series 6 of eight race nights was held on Saturday with another fine night of competition in the boards.

Southland Track Champs
The 2016 Southland Track Champs online registration is now live so get your entries in This event will be held from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 December and will again incorporate a UCI C1 Para-cycling track event. 

Christmas Holiday Velodrome Hours
The Cycling Southland office and Velodrome will close at the end of Tuesday 22 December and will re-open on Monday 11 January. Our annual New Year Carnival and Ascot Park Hotel Criteriums will be held from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 January.

Congratulations Syccie
A belated but huge and very well deserved congratulations to our Cycling Southland stalwart Graham Sycamore on his recent Lifetime Honorary Award from the UCI - presented at the UCI Road World Champs in Richmond in recognition for his service to cycling. Check out a great shot and further details – Not a bad 50 years of effort Syccie – top effort!

Cali World Cup
Well it may not have been their best results of late, but our Elite NZ cycling team are vowing to step it up at the next World Cup in Cambridge in December Check out the write ups here

Great Write Up Bruce
At the helm of this year’s tour again is our one and only Bruce Ross, who reckons it was a case of picking on the little guy when he was thrown into managing the tour 3o years ago

Read all about it You may have been picked on Brucie but you’re definitely the man for the job – here’s to another great tour unfolding until the finish on Saturday. Don’t forget to get out and cheer them on when they go past you and head along to the Gala Street Reserve this Saturday to cheer them on to the finish before 3pm!
