Phew – phase one of the Track Nationals is done and dusted but it’s only half way there as our team of primed and fizzing Elites begin assembling in Cambridge to start phase 2 from Thursday through to Sunday. Firstly to our Age Group team – a massive congratulations on such an epic week as records tumbled, PBs abounded and Southland dominated to lead their comrades into the Elite event by a healthy 49 point buffer!
Well done everyone – you should be euphoric and a particularly big shout out to our new NZ record holders:
Jon Andrews – M2 500m TT
Jon, Rog Nicholas & Brett Roulston – Masters 1,2 & 3 750m Team Sprint
Cherie Champion & Erin Crigling - WM Team Sprint
Neil Familton – Masters 3 IP
Ellesse Andrews & Emma Cumming – W17 500 Team Sprint
Tom Sexton, Brayden Stephens, Hamish Beadle and Hayden Strong – M17 3000m Team Pursuit
WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Meanwhile, Russell Scott also broke his own record in the M3 500m TT – so 6 NZ records in all over 5 days – pretty darned impressive. There is a huge wealth of results, info and images on the website/Facebook so check it out when you can if you haven’t already and keep an eye out for regular updates/diary instalments from Dale and images from Cambridge over the coming week – should be exciting to see how it all unfolds – Good luck and go hard to our Southland riders! We’re right behind you all!
Finally, a huge and ever-grateful thank you to all those who again took time out to lend a hand with volunteering over the week – you are the only reason these events can actually happen – so again THANK YOU VERY MUCH - You are our life blood!!
