Hi everyone and another balmy day or two are upon us so keep hydrated!
Plenty to get through again today so we’ll launch into it.
Skinsuits
Anyone racing Elite & U19 Track Nationals can still order speedsuits from Ultimo up until their cut off dates
http://shop.ultimoclothing.co.nz/categories/speedsuits
Order by Sunday 4 February 2018 for dispatch prior to Track Nationals (shipping by 16 February)
Order by Sunday 18 February 2018 for dispatch prior to Age Group Nationals (shipping by 2 March)
All orders are done online by you personally. I still have a few skinsuits left to hire but they will not cover everyone sorry so some of you will have to buy and sell on if the kids grow out of then.
To order from Champion https://champ-sys.co.nz/pages/custom-cycling go to the sign in and log on as office@cyclingsouth.org.nz and the password is emmarose2003
If you order from Champion please let me know and what size and suit style you have ordered as the delivery will come to me. They have not advised a cut-off date for Age Groups yet but get in sooner than later.
If you wish to hire from me get in touch sooner than later please.|

Meeting
Thank you to those road riders who attended a meeting on Monday night. One point from that was juniors riding in grades and the cost of road racing for junior riders. To clarify:
U15 riders: Are unable to ride in A, B or C graded races. Entry to a junior race is $5.*
U17 riders: Are able to ride in A, B or C graded races if their ability allows them to be competitive. If they compete in graded racing, entry is $10. If they race in a junior race, entry is $5. Note that U17 riders are unable to compete in Classic races.
*The entry fee to junior races held during a Classic race is $10.
It was also reinforced at the meeting support for the no number, no ride policy – if you forget your number you can hire one for $5. But as it was pointed out, you don’t forget your helmet, so you shouldn’t forget your number.
Office Closed
The facility will be closed on Tuesday 6th February for Waitangi Day and the office will be closed as well on Monday 5th as well. All track sessions will run as per usual and folders will be down for sign on.
Track Nationals Volunteers
We will again be seeking help from volunteers keen to assist with the Elite and Age Group Track Nationals
The Elites run from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 February with 10am and 6.30pm sessions daily and a 10am and 2pm session on the final day.
Age Groups run from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 March with sessions running 10am and 6pm daily and a 10am and 2pm session on the final day.
Please let me know if you can put your hand up to volunteer and what days/sessions you can help with thank you.
Drug seminar
At the request of our coaches, we have organised an educator from DrugFree Sport NZ to present to Cycling Southland riders on Tuesday February 13 at 7pm. All riders (particularly junior members and their parents) who are intending to compete at the national championships this year – both road AND Track – are asked to attend this.
It will take about an hour and provide an invaluable insight into what substances are banned and how to manage prescribed medications, as well as an opportunity to ask questions.
Club racing will begin at 5pm that night and finish in time for the presentation at the velodrome (room TBC). If you are unable to attend, please provide the reasons to your coach, who will in turn pass on to the office to keep a record.
It is expected that all riders will attend this to ensure they are familiar with their responsibilities around drugs in sport
Club Track Racing Night
Track racing on Feb 13 will run from 5pm to 6.45pm to allow riders to attend the DrugFree Sport seminar.
Brian Broad
A big thank you to those members and supporters who attended Brian Broad’s funeral on Saturday. The turnout was noted by the family, and the guard of honour appreciated.
