Happy Tuesday!

Another Junior Worlds done and dusted and didn’t they do well …
Super proud of our small team and our very own Emma Cumming who’s heading home with her prized silver medal from the team sprint. It was a triumphant effort for our young stars of the future. Read all the updates here if you haven’t already.

Urgent Attention Required Please
Last Friday night during Junior Racing at the track  there were a couple of incidents involving young children who were unsupervised throughout the night that potentially could have been disastrous.

Firstly a basketball, that was found down with the personal trainers gear in the walk way bridge through to the Stadium, was being kicked around on numerous occasions and it actually ended up going on to the track during a race. This was a close call and it was very lucky no one came to any harm. Any ball of any shape or size should never be thrown, bounced or kicked around in the Velodrome when there are people on the track.

Secondly, all the windows in the same walkway were opened and the unsupervised children were hanging out them and throwing all the training gear and equipment out the window on to the roof of the Stadium offices. This could have ended up with a kid going clean out the window and needless to say one of our adults was left to retrieve the gear that was thrown out – not an easy job and a very unnecessary thing that he was left to do.

The Stadium staff have the full three and a half hours of this going on recoded on their security camera and it is clear that there were a group of children – all identifiable -  and some stages even young riders in their bike shorts joined them.

The Stadium team have a assured us that staff will be coming through and checking in the future, along with safety locks being put on the windows to ensure no one can fall out of them – so that is part of the resolve.

We really love seeing the kids along at the Velodrome – some of them could be our champions of the future. However, this behaviour is not tolerated during any of our events and we would ask that parents attending events with young children please ensure that they are supervised and not getting into mischief in future. A start would be banning them from the personal trainers area and the Lounges where they remain unseen and keeping them in view and supervised at all times. We certainly hope this is the last of any such incidents and appreciate all co-operation to ensure this is the case. Thank you in advance.

On a more positive note …
