Four Southland cyclists have been selected to represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games, taking place in Birmingham from 28 July to 8 August.
Nick Kergozou, Corbin Strong, Bradly Knipe, and Tom Sexton have been selected to a very strong New Zealand track squad, with the track races taking place at the Lee Valley Velodrome that hosted the 2012 London Olympics.
Knipe has been selected for the sprint squad, while Sexton and Strong will feature as part of the endurance squad. Kergozou will straddle both squads as he looks set to take part in the 1000m time trial, which is a sprint event, as well as the team pursuit, which is an endurance event. The track cycling events will be contested from 29 July to 1 August. All the best to our Southland team - we will be sure to cheer you on from afar!
