2021 YUNCA JUNIOR TOUR OF SOUTHLAND
Friday 8 October to Sunday 10 October

Yunca Logo

First introduced to the region in 1984, the Yunca Tour has progressed significantly throughout the years and with the fine commitment by the event’s major sponsor – YUNCA - accompanied by a dedicated team of volunteers, has ensured the longevity and undoubted success of the event.

This year’s event will form part of Cycling New Zealand’s NRS series, and this 2021 event is a bonus race with bonus points up for grabs. For all the series info head to: www.nrs.nz

EVENT MANUAL  (please note there may still be changes to come!)

IMPORTANT UPDATE - RACE BUBBLES
Please note that in order to comply with gathering limits, the race will be split into two bubbles, with one composed of U19 men and women, as well as U17 men, and the other composed of U17 women, U15 boys and girls, and U13 boys and girls. There will be separate sign-on areas, warmup areas, et cetera for the two bubbles - please follow signage and officials instructions in this regard.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - AUCKLAND RIDERS
Yesterday brought the sad, but not unexpected, news that Auckland-based riders will not be able to join us for Yunca as the region remains under Level 3 restrictions. If Auckland based riders could please reach out to us to confirm their withdrawal from the event so we can process a refund that would be much appreciated - we would hate to remove someone from the race because of an Auckland club affiliation or address, only to find that they are not actually based there.

IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE - WAIKATO RIDERS
With the recently announced Covid outbreak in Waikato, and with exposure sites dating back to 23 September, we will be requiring all cyclists and supporters from Waikato to show proof of a negative Covid test in order to be part of the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland. This applies to riders already in Southland as well as those still on their way to Invercargill. We will require proof of a negative Covid test by 5pm on Thursday 7th October at the latest. This is for the safety of all other competitors and our local community. Should you have any questions around this policy, please feel free to contact me.

Chris Foggin

Covid Level 2 update:
Given the current alert levels and requirements, we have had to make some changes to the way the event will be run under Level 2.
-Only riders from Level 1 and Level 2 areas will be able to attend the event – as per government regulations, those located in an area under Level 3 restrictions at the time of the event will not be able to travel. Should riders who are entered for the event be unable to travel because of Covid restrictions, refunds will be processed for those riders.
-Should Southland still be under Level 2 restrictions at the time of the event, the event will be split into two bubbles in order to ensure compliance with gathering restrictions.
-Race pack pickup will take place prior to the start of Stage 1 at the Teretonga Motor Racing Circuit, from 7:00am on Friday 8 October. With current gathering restrictions in place we are unable to host our usual race packet pickup the day prior to the event.
-Please follow all instructions and signage at race venues, and do not cross any barriers or tape, as these may be used to demarcate separate areas for the sake of Level 2 compliance.
-Please scan in or sign in at each stage
-Please wear a mask at all times unless you are warming up, racing, or warming down.
-We ask that spectators do not gather in groups, nor gather around the start/finish or sign on areas, in keeping with Covid restrictions.
-There will be no awards ceremony on the final night should Southland still be under Level 2 restrictions with a 100 person limit for indoor gatherings.
