After five years of trying, Fonterra have won the battle of the corporates in Southland, with regard to track cycling.

A crew from three Southland schools - Southland Girls' High, Southland Boys' High and James Hargest College travelled up to South Island Secondary School Road Champs, in Christchurch on Friday and it was a trip well worth the effort with some great results.

Saturday saw the start of the Winter Road racing series with a point’s race on the Donovan Park course.  Despite the poor forecast 37 riders turned up ready to race with relatively even numbers throughout divisions 1, 2 and 3.
