Family Affair for National Champ
03/03/2011 - Southland's Bruce Jones had to share his success with plenty of mates on the third night of finals at the RaboDirect Age Group Track Championships in Invercargill.
The 55 year old Southlander won the men’s 55 years plus individual pursuit national title in record time at the ILT Velodrome.

02/03/2011 - Tonight's second night of racing at the RaboDirect Age Group Track Cycling Champs promises plenty as another 13 national champions will be crowned.
This morning saw qualifying in a number of events and the start of both the Mens and Womens U19 Omniums.

01/03/2011 - Junior world championship representative Stephanie McKenzie proved she has a bright future after a superb performance on the opening night of the RaboDirect National Age Group Cycling Championships in Invercargill tonight. <read more>

1/03/2011 - Southland's Steph McKenzie followed the lead set by fellow sprinter Natasha Hansen in the Elite Championships by lowering her U19 National Sprint Record in qualifying this morning on the opening day of the RaboDirect Age Group Track Nationals. <read more>
Sprinters Give Back for Canterbury
28/02/2011 - BikeNZ’s world class sprinters utilised their cycling skills to raise money for quake stricken Christchurch. Commonwealth Games medallists Eddie Dawkins (Southland) and Auckland’s Ethan Mitchell and Sam Webster ran a coaching clinic at the ILT Velodrome today.
“By sharing the skills that we have with other riders we are doing our bit for Christchurch,” said Webster.
Hansen Has Eyes On London
28/02/2011 - Southland’s Natasha Hansen is the fastest girl on wheels after a dominant display at the RaboDirect New Zealand track cycling championships that finished in Invercargill tonight.
Hansen won all four sprint events, setting two new national records in the process. <read more>

National Record Falls in Tandem
27/02/2011 - Short and fast was the order day at the ILT Velodrome this morning on the final day of the 2011 RaboDirect Elite Track National Championship. Para-cyclist Philippa Gray and her tandem pilot Laura Thompson (Southland) rode a blistering ride in the tandem kilometre time trial to set a new national record. The women set a 1.12.417 over four laps of the track. It is a massive confidence boost for the duo ahead of the para-cycling World Championships in Montichiari, Italy in the middle of March. <read more>
Jason Allen Grabs Second Gold
26/02/2011 - Christchurch’s Jason Allen, with 11 national titles to his name, finally ticked off the big one when he won the individual pursuit at the RaboDirect New Zealand track championships in Invercargill tonight. But his victory in a handy 4:27.732 over talented Southland-based Marlborough rider Cameron Karwowski had a hollow ring to it. <read more>

31/01/2011 - Another full week for the southern cycling fraternity as Cycling Southland hosted the annual McLeay Jewellers Southland Track Champs. Close on one hundred riders from Southland and Central Otago, along with some travellers from points further north, made the ILT Velodrome their home over three days this week, looking to impress selectors and build up to the National Track Championships at the end of next month. <read more>
