Congratulations to the yellow jersey winners of event four in the Baxter and Neilson Plumbers sponsored junior track racing series!

A chilly, drizzly day greeted riders at Te Tipua for the 4^th race in the Winter Points Series, around the “Beast of the East” circuit.  We were very grateful to Jos Miller for opening up the school for us to use the toilets and have a dry place to change and sign on – Thank you Jos!!

This year marked the second running of our Secondary School version of the Corporate Pursuit, in team sprint format.

While we didn’t break any records on the numbers front on Tuesday, it was awesome to welcome a couple of new riders to the fold and also a couple of top riders from outside the region / new to the region, and everyone had a fun albiet tough night of racing.

The third race in the Baxter and Neilson junior track cycling series for 2013 took place last Friday undeterred by the craft show in the centre of the velodrome.

Twenty five juniors put on a show of extremely strong racing in honour of the 30th Anniversary of the Curtis Dunn Memorial Race in fine conditions on Saturday.

For the first time in a few years, we had a perfect day for the Memorial Race, which was a treat  - particularly compared to last weekend’s hurricane conditions!

Despite arriving home in Alexandra with a haul of medals from the Junior World Track Cycling Championships in Glasgow, there will be no rest for New Zealand cyclist Liam Aitcheson.

Reports of calmer conditions at Browns on Saturday raised hopes that we might stay dry for the road race ... however, these hopes soon dissolved (into the driving wind!) when the hardy souls arrived in Browns to the same rain, hail and wind as town was experiencing.

H & J Smith Benchmark team mates are expected to go on the hunt for strong finishes at the fifth round of the Benchmark Homes Elite Cycling Series, the McKenzie & Willis Classic when it is raced near Queenstown on Saturday after spending much of the series racing overseas.

Greetings for another Tuesday, today we celebrate Cycling Southland winning the Supreme Award at the 2013 TrustPower Invercargill Southland Community Awards, held at the Civic Theatre last night.

Rimu School was the scene for another battle against not only other riders but also our dreaded wind!

The second day of racing in the double banger weekend, dawned windy with a threat of rain. However, the Waianiwa weather Gods were kind to us and we got away with a dry afternoon, if not a little wind beaten.

The depth in international paracycling continues to grow, something which makes New Zealand's medal-winning feats at the road world championships even more special.

It was the fast and furious at Tuesday night racing, with some very quick racing indicating that we must be nearing the business end of the season!

Cycling Southland President Lindsay Jordan today announced the resignation of CEO Nick Jeffrey.

Yesterday, I announced the resignation of our CEO Nick Jeffrey. Nick’s final day at Cycling Southland will be Friday 22 November.
