Another “Power Hour” is under the belt for the track racers of the south, with some great performances, particularly from the continually improving Madison riders.

The Comedy for Cure Kids Road Show will leave Invercargill next month to cover the length of the country and the show producer is wondering if any of our Cycling Southland road cycling enthusiasts would like to join them on the first leg of their journey?

What a week of awesome news we’ve had  from the International stage of Tier 1 sprinting at Adelaide, Tarsh and Sequoia doing their bit carving it up in T-Town, to Glasgow Junior Worlds departures and some top results and fierce racing – in some torrid conditions – for the Secondary School road champs in Christchurch during the weekend – totally awesome work to everyone

This week we were paid a visit by a couple of good blokes from up north somewhere who wanted to get a handle on how one of these velodrome things worked. They were looking at the feasibility of building a similar community facility for their home patch.

A clear and sunny (but very chilly!) day greeted riders at Woodlands, for the 2^nd race of the winter season and the 1^st of the 2013 Winter Points Series races.

Cycling Southland's Eddie Dawkins and team mate Simon van Velthooven scored wins on day three of the international track cycling series in Adelaide last night.

Invercargill's Matt Archibald was the best of the Kiwis at the International Track Cycling Series last night making the sprint quarter and semi finals at the Adelaide Super-Drome. 

The Lone Star-Speights Roller Racing battle continued between teams involved in this year's WHK Corporate Pursuit on night three last night.

The 2013 Cycling Southland Annual General Meeting will be held in the Sarah Ulmer Lounge on Wednesday 31 July at 7:00pm.  

Kiwi sprinters Eddie Dawkins and Simon van Velthooven have carried their strong form in Europe on to success at the first day of the international track cycling series in Adelaide.

Another good night of early season racing under the belt, with again a small (but quality!) turn out, across two divisions, and finishing off with a Madison for those who took part in the Madison training through June.

A nine-strong BikeNZ track cycling team, including a trio of elite Southlanders, will contest three Tier One UCI events in Adelaide starting tonight.

It has been a great six weeks since arriving in Valencia. We have now finished up the European phase of racing and are beginning the long journey to Adelaide (Via Auckland).

The handful of weeks that can loosely be described as the off-season at Cycling Southland are over with the restart of our weekend club road racing series on Saturday.

The first race of the season began with a mixed reception from the weather gods. To race or not to race would have been the question asked by a few.

Having a quiet with a few workmates took on a new meaning for some local businesses recently.  A number of extra shades of red and white were on display upon the faces of the competitors at the first and second heats of the recent roller racing challenge.

This year’s Tour of Southland cycle race will carry and important road safety message, with this week’s announcement of a new partnership between event hosts Cycling Southland and Road Safety Southland.

Small but quality fields graced the track on Tuesday, for our first night of winter racing. 

Well, if you’re already hooked on the 2013 Tour de France action, a lack of sleep could be starting to make itself felt.
