A big gidday for another week and hope you’re all managing to keep warm and well as this little wintry blast remains settled over the majority of the country. Good timing for our Junior Worlds 2013 team as they head out for warmer climates in Belgium tomorrow for their pre-2013 Glasgow Junior Worlds camp hit out. Following about three weeks in Belgium, it will be on to Scotland for the main event from 7 – 11 August. Good luck to our local crew Jeremy Presbury, Liam Aitcheson and Josh Haggerty and their seven fellow team members – we will so look forward to hearing about all their exciting racing and results – Go lads go – and have a trip of a life time!! We all wish you the best of luck – go hard and go fast!

Road Racing
It was an total bonus that the rubbish weather being dished up over the south at the weekend, abated long enough to see the launch of our winter-spring road racing programme get underway with the Donovan Points Race running under the new Division 1 -5 format with Seniors and Juniors mixing it up and some awesome racing across all grades. Check out wonder-Waine’s great report_and_photos

This Saturday is the Woodlands Graded – and the 1st race in the winter series (there is no Junior racing due to large numbers competing at the South Island Secondary School Road Champs in Christchurch – good luck to you all!)

A reminder that from the following weekend of 20/ 21 July, we will be starting a Junior Road Skills Programme prior to Saturday Road Racing.  The plan will be to meet at 12pm at the racing venue (with the race due to start at 1.30pm), and spend some time going over a skill / set of skills in different groups of ability.

We are also looking for some Senior Riders interested in helping out with the junior road skills programme.  It is a lot of fun and very rewarding, and coaching information sheets are supplied. Get into it!  Contact Dale if you are keen [email protected]

Ian Densie, one of our local coaches, has space available for a few extra riders to join his Sunday afternoon track training session.  The sessions have been running successfully for the past six years with riders progressing onto national and international success. The session is open to all riders capable of riding on the track, but is ideally suited to those riders who want to improve their skill level and improve their fitness, while also having a bit of fun. The sessions run every Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5pm and would suit masters riders, road riders or corporate pursuit riders wanting to develop their skills.  Bookings are essential as numbers are limited.  The cost for the two hour session is $20 rider. For more information or to book in please email Ian direct -  [email protected]
