For anyone interested there is a Track session at the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome from 12pm to 3pm for some informal racing.
The next stage of the Tour is Stage 5 - Wensleys Cycles Inner City Criterium on Sunday morning.
The 2014 version of the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland is to be held from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 October 2014. The event is open to both male and female cyclists, from Under 19 through to Under 13 grades. The ILT Junior Track Carnival will then feature on the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 October.
The six-stage event will commence on Friday 3 October with an individual time trial followed by a Kermesse, with the four road stages being raced over the following two days. Entries close on Monday 22 September.

REGISTRATION - THIS MEETING IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL RIDERS.
Registration for the 2014 Yunca Tour will be held at the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome at 9am on Friday 3 October. At the briefing you will be addressed by the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland’s major sponsor, the Tour Manager, the Chief Commissaire and STMS.
RIDER REGISTRATION PACKS WILL BE ISSUED PRIOR TO THE BRIEFING, FROM 8AM. These will include your race programme and race numbers. The Time Trial starts at Teretonga at 11am. The Time Trial start list will be posted later in the week once finalised.

GEAR RESTRICTIONS
For all riders the following gear restrictions apply:
- Roll out 7.93m for U19s (M&F).
- Roll out 7.00m for U17s (M&F).
- Roll out 6.00m for U15s.
- Roll out 5.60m for U13s.
- Wheels must have a minimum of 16 spokes and rims must not be made from composite materials. (excludes U19 Men & U19 Women)
For all riders the following gear restrictions apply
- Gear checks will be carried out prior to the start of the individual time trial stage.
- Random checking will be done throughout the Tour.*
- The first 5 riders across the finish line of each race must present their bikes for scrutineering and to confirm their placing.
Any rider found to have an irrregular bike after racing may be disqualified from the Tour

As from 1 July 2014, the U17 Gearing for all BikeNZ Road & Track events becomes a maximum rollout of 7.0 metres. This means that Junior Gearing for U15, U17 and U19 is the same in both New Zealand and Australia.

2014 ILT JUNIOR TRACK CARNIVAL
Immediately following the Yunca Tour the top junior talent from throughout New Zealand and Australia take to the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome for the first major track event of the 2014-15 season.
Cycling Southland's ILT-sponsored October Junior Track Carnival provides the perfect opportunity for Junior cyclists to stretch their legs and test themselves against top class oponents by lighting up the boards over two nights on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 October 2014. Cycling Southland's Yunca Junior Cycle Tour of Southland was held in contrasting conditions over the weekend.
After Saturday's afternoon stage was abandoned for the first time in the event's 29 year history due to horrendous weather conditions at Te Tipua, yesterday's final stage at Grove Bush was raced under clear skies and sunshine.

Weather wrecks havoc on second day
The weather wrecked havoc on the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland today, forcing the cancellation of the scheduled afternoon stage at Te Tipua.
The 2012 field gamely battled the elements in the morning third stage on the aptly named "Beast of the East" circuit at Te Tipua in Eastern Southland, with the driving sleet and snow showers and strong cross-winds making for an even more beastly experience than normal. Race Report
Sprint finishes mark opening day of Yunca Tour
05/10/2012 - Torrential rain and driving wind could not stop a gripping first day at the 29th edition of Cycling Southland's Yunca Junior Tour of Southland today. A record field of Australasia's best junior road cyclists took to Teretonga Raceway to contest an Individual Time Trial and afternoon kermesse races across the eight separate age categories.
