I am Kate Wilson 19 years of age I am currently a student at Southern Institute of Technology studying a Diploma in Sport and Recreation. I will be attending Outward Bound from 6 to 26 January 2016.
I have completed my bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards and now currently working towards my gold level and need to complete this Outward Bound to achieve this.
By attending Outward Bound I hope to develop my life skills to a higher level and also to push myself out of my comfort zones.
The Outward Bound course is located in Anakiwa and is 21 days long. It involves challenges both physically and mentally. Some of the activities are sailing, tramping, rock climbing, leadership, team building and kayaking.
I am planning to do a fundraising cycling ride from Te Anau to Invercargill on the 29th of November. This is 160km long. I will be starting from Te Anua Lakeview Kiwi Holiday Park and Motels at 7am and finishing at the Invercargill velodrome. This ride will help me with my fundraising efforts towards Outward Bound.
People are welcome to join on the ride at any stage. Donations can be made prior to the ride at https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/help4kate/ or once it has finished at Invercargill velodrome. Donations close on the 20th of December 2015.
All information about the ride will be posted to the Cycling Southland webpage and Facebook page.
A food hamper will also be available on sale $2 a ticket more information will be given closer to the time.
Every little bit will help me attend Outward Bound so please come join me on the ride!
