A great nights racing was had by all in the fifth race of the Baxter and Neilson series this year.
Many of the stronger riders were away due to injury or prior commitments. This opened up the categories and gave other riders a chance to catch up to the leaders in points.
The evening started with an individual time trial, 250m for U13 and 500m for U15, U17 and U19.
The time trial was won by Elizabeth Reid and Hamish Beadle in U13, Sophie McMurdo and Michael Culling in U15 and Kate Dunlevy and Josh Haggerty in U17.
The time trial was followed up by a scratch race which was closely contested in all grades.
The final race was a Points race, tough for tired legs. The riders all raced competitively.
After the racing was finished, everyone headed upstairs for prize-giving and pizza. The jerseys were presented in each category.
The U13 girls was won by Elizabeth Reid. U13 boys was narrowly won by Hamish Beadle from Josh Carpenter.
U15 girls was taken out by Sophie McMurdo with Brooke Brazier snapping at her heels. Michael Culling once again took out the U15 boys’ jersey although it was a close battle for second between Liam Haggerty and Nick Kergozou.
In the U17 girls Kate Dunlevy took home the jersey once again although she was challenged by Georgia Timpany who placed second for the first time this year. Another first in the U17 boys as Joshua Haggerty took the jersey home.
Once the jerseys had been presented it was finally time for pizza then home tired and happy.
