The New Zealand team pursuit quartet, featuring our Southland enduro Pieter Bulling, has won the bronze medal on the opening day of the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Colombia.

The quartet of Dylan Kennett, Pieter Bulling, Aaron Gate and Marc Ryan has beaten Russia in the ride off for the bronze medal.

They edged ahead by the 2km mark and controlled the race from that point, clocking an outstanding 3:58.989.

Also this afternoon the Kiwi men’s team sprint take on world champions Germany in the ride off for the gold and silver medals.
