Cycling Southland's Pieter Bulling distinguished himself with a strong showing at the 2012 Melbourne Madison and Sid Patterson Grand Prix held at Joe Ciavola Velodrome on Saturday.

Bulling teamed with Christchurch's Alex Frame to finish 6th overall behind eventual winners France Marvulil (SUI) and Marcel Barth (GER) who finished one lap ahead of the rest of the field.

Bulling and Frame finished on lap down on the winners with 9 sprint points.

Earlier in the night he claimed 2nd place in the Lance De Luca Memorial Scratch Race behind New South Wales' Jackson Law.
