Some of New Zealand's big cycling names are expected to battle it out on one of our most renowned circuits when The Cycle Surgery and Zookeepers Cafe host the Bunty Hewitt Memorial - Hell of the South next Thursday 25 October.
Primed as a lead-in to the PowerNet Tour of Southland, which runs from 28 October to 3 November the Hell of the South is an 83km scratch race and the event is going to test the riders tactical and technical skill with more than 30km of gravel to navigate.
There will also be a "Weekend Warriors" classification, which is for anyone that isn't doing the tour. It has its own prize money for the winner, plus a set of awesome lights for riding in the dark (worth lots of $$$), plus medals for the top three in the "Pro" and "Weekend Warriors" classification.
A great prize fund of $2000, with $1000 for first place, should entice the avid road racers and Zookeepers Cafe will be at the start area to provide the yummy coffee.
Register online now as entries close Tuesday 23 October.
Entry is just $30 with reporting at 12.30pm at the Makarewa Squash Club for a 1.30pm race start.
