NZ Club Road Nationals Results - Hawkes Bay
30/04/10 - Cycling Southland member Sophie Williamson riding for our Wakatipu Club has dominated her Age Group at the Club Road Nationals in the Hawkes Bay, backing up her win in the Individual Time Trial on Thursday with victory in Friday's Road Race. A solitary second was all that seperated the first eight riders (the first six all finished with the same time of 1'28"47) but Sophie did enough to get her wheel over the line first to complete an incredible double in the Under 17 Girls. Those Central Otago hills held her in great stead. Elsewhere Sophie McMurdo (7th), Brooke Brazier (8th) and Michael Culling (8th) all followed up their Top 10 TT results with similar results in the Under 15 Road Races and Garth Cooper powered his big frame over the line for a Top Ten result. Also we've had reports from Hastings on Hamish Presbury's great ride in the U23 race. Riding with the Senior Men, he was part of a great break in the second group on the road and was in line for second in the U23s before cramp on the last lap saw him drop back. See full results below.
