A brisk westerly wind and chilly conditions contributed to a course change for the TES sponsored race from 70km to 50km today.
In an attempt to make things more interesting, race manager Waine Harding decided to change the format to a graded handicap.
In A grade Matt Zenovich only had two brave souls Sam and Sam (Miller, Thornbury) join him and they started 12min after C grade (17 riders) then 5 riders in a B grade bunch in between.
Windy conditions kept a lid on anyone trying anything too daring. C grade with more riders had a bit more going on, 4 riders got away mid way through (James Jubb, Olivia Thornbury, Dave Simpson and Brook Armishaw) only to be chased down by the Mac-attack (Andy Mac).
Just after Hedgehope corner the B grade group caught C grade with A grade not far off.
8km to the finish youngster Lachie Baird attacked hard and opened a gap with the B grade riders responding and chasing leaving the C grade to fight their own battle. At one stage the gap opened out to 30sec and Neil Familton, Alan Strong, Aaron Sinclair and Grant Colbran fought to close it down unsuccessfully. Line honors went to B Grader Lachie Baird 1st Neil Familton2nd and Grant Colbran 3rd.
Another nice finish in C grade just 90sec behind with James Jubb 1st, Craig Sadlier 2nd and Brook Armishaw 3rd.
A grade were another minute behind them Matt Zenovich 1st, Sam Thornbury 2nd and Sam Miller 3rd. Big thanks to our sponsors Transport Engineering Services today as well as the volunteers who helped out. Bad luck Daryl Haggerty who missed out on the jackpot draw so a bigger prize for us next week.
