The George Wilson Bros Gore to Waikiwi Road Classic was competed for in ideal conditions on Saturday.

A field of 35 took on the 78km handicap event which saw the scratch bunch give way 30minutes to the limit riders.  All seven bunches combined well as they took on the undulating terrain across the back of Mataura through Hedgehope and over the Spring Hills.

In the end it was a group of four riders that stayed clear with Kylie Young proving to strong for Vaughan Edie, Erin Criglington and Allan Milne. A solid ride by Georgia Timpany and Max Anderson saw them take 5th and 6th respectively.

Moments later Josh Haggerty led the remnants of the break and some of the riders of the middle marks over the line. Haggerty, Matt Zenovitch and Paddy Daly rode strongly throughout the race and for the majority of the event were looking set to take out fastest time honours. In the end, scratch rider Cameron Kawowski came across the line 2min 55 seconds after Haggerty to take fastest time by a mere 5 seconds from Brad Tuhi.
