Cool overcast conditions greeted the 21 riders for the Gorge Road Race on Saturday but before the first lap was completed the wind and rain hit with vengeance prompting the race manager to reduce the race to only one lap. It was a hard faught 49kms for those who managed to finish with many being blown across, or off the road.

The seven A grade riders all managed to finish even though they had split up somewhat by the top of Letter Box Hill. It came down to three riders to contest the finish with Tom Sexton prevailing ahead of Josh Haggerty and Matt Zenovich in a time of 1,19.19. I should make mention that Wayne Miller and Derek Tan stepped up to increase the numbers in A grade. It seemed like they really enjoyed it!

Only three riders contested the combined B and C grade finish with the honours going to Aaron Sinclair ahead of Grant Colbran and Neil Sutherland in a time of 1.29.15 with the majority of the rest of the field abandoning.

Three juniors Josh Miller, Hunter Gough and Tayla Lumsden started the race but sensibly all pulled out.
