Emma CummingUnder 19s Bradly Knipe and Emma Cumming were the stars to feature on day two of Southlands quest for success at the Oceania Track Championships in Adelaide winning bronze in the 1000 time trial and kierin final respectively, as the Australians fought back from the Kiwi success on day one.

After the New Zealanders dominated the opening day with four wins, the hosts won the individual pursuit for both women on the second day of competition at the Adelaide Superdrome.

Best of the New Zealanders was Jaime Nielsen, who was third in the women’s 3000m individual pursuit, edging out teammate Georgia Williams.

Hawkes Bay rider Westley Gough, the 2012 world championship bronze medallist, beat compatriot Marc Ryan, the current world bronze medallist, for third place in the men’s 4000m individual pursuit.

New Zealand star on the second day was brilliant Palmerston North teenager Campbell Stewart who dominated the junior omnium competition. He won five of the six disciplines and was second in the remaining event to win overall with 222 points, which was 30 points clear of his nearest rival.

After winning the final omnium event, the 25km points race, Stewart turned around to dominate the junior men’s scratch race.

Today’s third day of action features the individual sprint and completion of the elite omnium.
