A strong field of riders turned up to compete in ideal conditions. A 24min gap between limit and scratch riders was too much for scratch riders Matt Randall, Luke Macpherson and Josh Haggerty.
Some of the middle bunches made progress through the field to be rewarded with good results. Young U17, U19 riders were dominant and showed their superior fitness. 2nd limit riders Allan Milne and Marty Lohrey were strong as well pulling their bunch to the front of the race before the completion of the first lap.
On the second lap the second break group of youngsters made their way to the front. Break group Sam Miller, Mike White, Brayden Stephens and Brendon Akeroyd also made good progress and finished close to the winners.
In the final stages three riders got away and collected the placings. Kain Bowles showed he is riding well winning ahead of Will Sutherland 2nd Jack Pedler 3rd with Marty Lohrey fighting on for 4th. Fastest time went to scratch rider Matt Randell.
Junior club also held a race over a shorter distance that was raced just a hard. Nice to see some young Tri-athletes joining in to improve the quality of racing.
