Cycling Southland is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the opening of New Zealand’s first indoor velodrome and we’d love for you to join in the celebrations.

We’re hosting the Next Generation of young track stars – the New Zealand junior national track squad - in our first May Magnifique! The two-day track carnival on May 27-28 will feature the cream of the country’s up and coming track stars who are preparing for their tilt at the World Champs in Switzerland.

We’ll be holding a birthday party (with some junior racing thrown in for good measure) on Thursday, May 26, marking exactly 10 years ago that the track was officially opened.

Then on the Friday and Saturday nights it’ll be all action on the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome as riders from around the country pit their skills against each other. Included in this will be an all-comers Wheel Race with a first prize of $1000. You read that right - $1000!

Please note that this replaces the originally advertised Queen’s Birthday event, which had to change dates due to unforeseen circumstances.

More details to come on this but lock those dates in your diary. It’s going to be magnifique!
