12/02/2011 - What a great evening of racing at Seddon Park velodrome in Mosgiel on Saturday!
Despite the rain (which did not stop until 5:45pm!) - the track dried quickly in the warm winds and racing started on time at 6:30pm.
The southland team of Caleb Hope, Brayden Stevens, Josh Carpenter, Bronwyn Graham, Libby Bayne (Junior U15/17), Paigan Marshall, Jen Muhl and Marie Muhl (open women/senior Div 2) all rode extremely well and brought honours to the club in several races.
Of particular note - Josh dominated all the junior races with first place in all but one. Libby was in fine form for her first time on a concrete track and gained a 2nd and 3rd place in two of the races.
Bronwyn was the star of the night winning the tremendous NZ cup on wheels trophy closely flanked by Brayden in 2nd place and Josh in 3rd place.
Paigan, Jen and Marie had their work cut out in the senior grade with fast and furious racing all evening. No prizes, but they all did well with Jen coming 4th in the 2000m scratch race.
Well done to all. It was a great evening - warm weather with a backdrop of atmospheric skies, a beautiful sunset, superb team spirit and very relaxed!
