Howdy doody everyone and an official welcome to Spring – Yay!!

Well our superstar para pilot couldn’t help herself again over the weekend when Laura Fairweather teamed with partner Emma Foy to take out silver at the 2014 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Greenville, USA. Meanwhile, Philly Gray and pilot Kylie Young placed an admirable eighth. Great work again from our Southland girls and encouraging to know our dear Dale MacDonald was also there giving them support to do their best in her new role as Para development co-ordinator – You are all mega for your efforts ladies! Club Gala Night this Friday
Check out the race and event programme here

Our Club Gala Night takes place this Friday from 6-9pm and will feature the best from the senior, junior, wheelers and flyers, and ‘omnium competition’ racing. Rider entry is only $5 junior/$10 senior, with a gold coin donation if you want to join the masses in the stand and enjoy the view. Prizes to be won!

We hope that you can come down and cheer on the best from the club. Don’t forget to invite your families, friends and work colleagues, after all most of them would have watched the Commonwealth Games track cycling and enjoyed this exciting ‘new’ sport. This is a real chance for them to experience the sport you love in all its intense, competitive glory!

Some quick points to note:

-          Registration for racing takes place on the night from 5:30pm.

-          We will be hosting a free ‘track start’ session for the viewing public to have a go from 9-9:30pm.

-          There will be an opportunity for under-6 riders to take part in the Gala with a derby challenge on the grey area allocated on the programme. Please don’t hesitate to bring the kids or your nieces and nephews to come along, with their bikes, for a go (no cost for their registration of course). We will even have a ‘superhero’ derby if they want to dress up as their favourite marvel character.

See you all there for some fun! Remember we will be holding a garage sale and if you want to clean out some bike parts and clothing you no longer require and donate them to this event in the Ulmer Lounge, then proceeds will go towards the club. Any donations can be made here at the office before the end of play of Thursday please.
