Hi everyone and the huge news is that … It’s April Fool’s Day – so don’t get caught out!!
There is just enough going on still at the moment – particularly with the end of the financial year and stock take audit being undertaken so please bear with Bruce and me if you’re ringing or swinging by and the place is unmanned. Best you check I’m in the office before making the trip for a membership/licence/concession card or anything else you are after and we’ll ensure you’re covered!
First reminder: Club Meeting – Tonight (Tuesday 1st), in the Sarah Ulmer Lounge at 7.30pm. Our executive will give us an update on what is happening.
Southland Road Champs this weekend
If anyone is able to assist this weekend with the Cycling Southland Road Championships this Saturday and Sunday, this would be greatly appreciated. The time trials are on Saturday morning, 10.30am report for an 11.00am start from McQuarrie Street. With safety of the event being paramount, assistance with marshalling at the turnaround points plus time keeping is required. The time trials should be finished at approximately 1.00pm.
The road races will be held on Sunday on the New Vale Coal circuit, based from the Te Tipua School. The first race gets underway at 11.00am and again Cycling Southland would appreciate your assistance with marshalling, plus general judging and timekeeping duties. Please contact me at office@cyclingsouth.org.nz
Meanwhile get your registrations in for these events pronto! Planning wise we will be closing entries off on Thursday at the absolute latest so register here now!

Crowe Horwath Corporate Pursuit|
Cycling Southland's biggest fundraiser of the year is fast approaching. To ensure its success once again we need the assistance of members.
Coaches are required to guide the teams over 5 weeks of training (1 hour per week) and officials needed for the time trial on Sunday 29 June starting at 2pm and race day Sunday 6 July.
If you can be a part of this unique event then please contact the office office@cyclingsouth.org.nz with your contact details. Thank you.
Track Nationals Skinsuit Returns
Can everyone who hired/borrowed skinsuits during the Track Nationals please get these returned to office as soon as possible. I have a list of all those who did and don’t want to have to personally chase you all up please. Thanks for helping out!
Night riding visibility
With daylight saving finishing this weekend – yes we all get a bonus hour’s sleep (YAY!) – it is very timely to remind everyone that safety is paramount in grey, overcast and morning and evening light. Wear hi-vis gear, carry lights and use them when needed. Riders need to ensure they are setting an example of how to behave on the roads and not becoming an example of how not to.
Swipe card access
The systems between the Velodrome and Stadium have now been integrated so all swipe cards that we are aware of have been loaded into the system. However, Bruce and I were the first ones to not get correctly reloaded in the transfer and the security crew have advised it is very easy to miss numbers when loading the lists. So if you still cannot get in through the west wing door, you need to advise me of your swipe card number for reloading please. A reminder if you don’t get the sign that’s hanging for all to see – you must use your swipe card to enter and leave the building out the west entrance – DO NOT use the emergency bar door to exit or these will be bolted up an unable to be used at all!
Great results for more of our Juniors

So that’s it for another busy week, take care out there and keep smiling – it makes everyone wonder what you’ve been up to!
