Sunday Novice Road Riding
Unfortunately Fergus has had to put a temporary pause on the weekend rides as he is not getting enough parental support to ensure the health and safety requirements are met.
Because this is a development-building group, he really needs the support of either some parents – or if you even if some of our older experienced are keen then you would also be ideal.
Let me know if you are willing to assist to help get the ride from the Velodrome at 1.30pm back on track on Sundays.
Record Breaking Effort
Big apology to Conor Shearing for omitting to recognise his record-breaking ride recently when he broke the U17 Men’s Flying 200 mark of 11.2 secs with a time of 11.13 secs before moving up to the U19 ranks to race at the Oceas next week. Read the full article Top effort that one Conor!
Oceania Champs
Huge good luck to all our Southland riders venturing to the Oceania Track Champs, being held at Cambridge from Monday 20 to Thursday 23 November.
Representing New Zealand Elites will be Eddie Dawkins, Emma Cumming, Natasha Hansen, Nick Kergozou, Tom Sexton and Kirstie Klingenberg (nee James). U19s will be Emily Paterson, Helena Rikiti, Nicole Marshall, Sophie-Leigh Bloxham and Conor Shearing, while representing Southland will be Brad Knipe (Elite) and U19s Corbin Strong, Ewan Syme, Nepia Ruwhiu, Tayla Lumsden and Madeleine Gough.
Tour Equipment Returns
Can anyone who still has Tour of Southland or Yunca Tour equipment in the car, garage or anywhere else please return it to us as soon as you can so it’s not forgotten about. Thank you very much.
Wanted Road Bike
I have a rider wanting to take up road riding and racing again and he’s after a road bike – very reasonably priced and around the 56cm frame if possible. Let me know if anyone has some options to put to him please.
Christmas Office Closure
The Cycling Southland office will be closed this year from Monday 18 December and we will be back on deck on Monday 15 January. The track will be open as per usual for anyone wanting to use their regular sessions until the Stadium’s last day on Friday 22 December. The Stadium then re-opens 7th January with reduced hours of 8am to 5pm daily and 9-5pm on Sundays, before returning to regular hours on 21 January.
Finally, totally classic to see Eddie Dawkins and team mate Ethan Mitchell among the Kiwi sporting celebrities invited to the semi-final judging table on My Kitchen Rules last night – Have to agree Eddie that the term trifle should stay with the classic Kiwi pud than a crayfish stack! Good on you both for doing something completely different,
Have a splendid week everyone and enjoy the mild weather.
