Good chilly Tuesday to all in the south today – a far cry from the heat our Junior Worlds reps are enduring in Korea as the 2014 event comes to a close today. Huge congrats to our trio of Nick, Mike and Laura who have given their best, including a bronze team pursuit success for Nick and an “ohhhhhh” just missed the podium in the omnium. It’s an experience they will hold forever and representing New Zealand on the world stage is one they can certainly hold for a lifetime. Great work you guys – we are all totally proud of you! 2015 Oceania Track Champs – Adelaide
Thanks to the persistence of Jo Stephens, we have finally secured some information around the Oceas in October View details provided so far

As thought, they have stipulated that a U19 Race Youth International licence is required – this will be $50 club membership and $50 race youth international (plus insurance). With regard to insurance we are looking to see if we can do a bulk cover through our Cycling Southland insurer before having to put it past BikeNZ – watch this space and we’ll keep you informed. We are also investigating whether U17s need a race youth international licence or not? I will ensure we get the 2015 forms as soon as possible from BikeNZ so these can be processed in time and we will keep you updated on information as it comes to hand.

Missing helmet
At last Tuesday’s secondary schools session (4-6pm) a predominantly white Volta Corsa helmet, with some silver, was left behind and has gone missing. If anyone at all has picked this up or seen it, please contact me at the office 217 3215. Thank you.

Finally, we can never thank our members enough for what they do for the club, be it collecting money at sessions, lending a hand at events, helping with bikes and sessions and just generally giving back to the club to make it such an awesome centre that it is. So a big thumbs up and thank you this week goes out to another quiet champ - Fergus Canny – who has donated all new toe straps and fitted them on all our track bikes. He has also taken a lot of time to take on the latest instalment of repairs and maintenance, which is a big help to our other valuable volunteer Gerald Paterson who has been doing so much of this repair work in recent times. Totally outstanding Fergus and please know that we all very much appreciate the huge contribution and vast improvement it has made to our hire bikes! Star of the week …

Take care out there, keep warm and safe for another busy week ahead
