This Saturday it is the final road race for the Summer Season before a break for a couple of monthsand it’s the Makarewa-Grove Bush Bunty Hewitt Classic, so make sure you get out there and make the most of it before the break.

U17s and U19s Training
Training is again being run for U17s and U19s leading into the ITS and Anzac Cup in Aussie at the end of the month, along with Junior Worlds. In the very generous words of super coach Sid Cumming – “I don’t care who comes - whoever comes along – I’ll train them!” So open invitation to train alongside our travelling representatives on Thursdays from 4-6pm weekly and help spur them on.

WANTED – Small track bikes
Does anyone have hidden in the dark depths of their garage or storage any small track bikes that have been grown out of and forgotten about that the club may be able to borrow? This is due to the influx of newbies at our Wheelers and Flyers and we just can’t meet the demand right now. If you may be able to help us out please let me know [email protected]

Special General Meeting
A Special General Meeting will be held on the Tuesday 26 May at 7.30pm to discuss the proposed changes to the Executive and the Constitution.

Prizegiving date set
Mark in your calendars Friday 3 July now for our 2015 prizegiving – another great night to celebrate the club year and give out some great awards. All welcome and tickets will go on sale soon.

Cycling Safety at Night
Now that the evenings are getting darker earlier, along with the fog we’ve had of late, it is extremely important to highlight the necessity for extreme care with safety – if it’s really foggy best advice is don’t go out for a bunch ride – it’s too dangerous! Make sure you are well lit up with both front and back lights and wear hi-res clothing for visibility.

Sam Miller to represent NZ in Canberra
Great news for Sam Miller last week when he was a late selection to join the Cycling New Zealand U17 road squad for the Canberra Tour next week Read the glowing article here

Shane McNaught Tribute Ride
Another great yarn today too and it’s awesome to see our champ Shane back on his bike to take on the Westpac Chopper Appeal Ride in memory of our very much missed Grant Toomey.  Good luck for the ride, we know Tooms will be smiling too! Catch up on the great yarn here

Well that’s it from me for another week and another month … sigh where do they go?
Take care out there and keep warm in dry
