It’s nearly ho ho ho time and what a year it’s been too – very exciting and very busy.
First things first, the Track is closed today to all sessions so no senior racing either tonight as they sanding for the court resurfacing is creating too much dust on the track. Once this is finished and cleaned, we can hopefully get back on schedule for the remainder of the week. The contractors resurfacing the courts are very accommodating so we just have to work through things day by day. Keep an eye on the track schedule and Facebook for any updates each day.

There is supposed to be an U17 grade but this will be determined by numbers on the day. Patrick Harvey has some of the Black Magic Women Cycling team and James Fouche at a training camp for the week and they will all be racing. Entry $10.
Canterbury Track Cycling annual Carnival on 6 & 7 January 2015.
Syd Martin and his team are offering to help assist Southland riders to attend the carnival, with the idea of Canterbury Track Cycling (CTC) covering the cost of hiring of a minivan to bring riders up (any age group) and billet them out to help keep the costs to Southland riders to a minimum. It is something members of CTC have done over the years to get our riders to Southland & North Island events with great success.
If there is enough interest in the next couple of days we could get a van and trailer organised to carry bikes along with a responsible driver whom CTC will also look after.
The Canterbury Carnival is quite different being outdoor, with the infield set up with Marquees and tents.
They have trade stores, ice cream trucks along with food outlets around the outside of the track etc.
Just like a national event all competitors are located in the infield and of course juniors mix with elites with a number of events not normally run in Southland track meets.
It is high intensity with lots of fun mixed in. Let me know if you’re keen to attend [email protected]
