Good soggy Tuesday everyone,

Hope you have all been able to enjoy the thrill of the track action the past couple of weeks with the NZ Schools Champs, ILT Junior Carnival and then the epic and exhilarating four, action-packed days of the Oceania Track Champs!

Wow it was amazing racing, there were records tumbling and our New Zealand representative riders and Southland team riders all individually – and as teams – did themselves proud. We are super stoked for everyone who competed – both in Southland and CNZ teams – capital “A” for awesome job.

Also a massive thanks to all our loyal volunteers who once again stepped up to the plate to make it another fantastic event! Many of them doing the job at all four events recently, including the Yunca Tour. You are all amazing and we couldn’t do it without you all – thank you.

Also check out all the awesome photos courtesy of Dianne Manson and Eugene Bonthuys during the event. Thank you both so much for capturing the moments forever.

SBS Bank Tour of Southland
Not this weekend but the following weekend it is Tour Time again and that means many great opportunities to get out on the roads and follow the teams and many great riders that will be featuring again this year.

The Tour kicks off on Sunday 3rd November with the “Gala on Gala” Launch Party at the Gala Street Reserve.

The team introductions and official team photos are at 2pm, followed by the Share the Road Ride with the Stars at 3.15pm so make sure you get the kids bikes and helmets loaded on the car so they can be a part of it all.

Meanwhile, business, social and junior teams are encouraged to enter in the Ricoh Corporate Road Team Time Trial event being held again at 3.45pm. Enter your team of 4-6 riders online now Entry is Just $120 for adult teams and $60 for junior teams.

Then the official Tour racing begins with the Prologue – Team Time kicking off at 4.30pm.

Equipment Amnesty

Please return all lights, flags, radios, vests that you may have sitting around in car boots, garages etc. They are urgently all required for the Tour of Southland.
We are also urgently looking for a “GME” radio box from the Yunca Junior Tour please that has still not been returned.

Tunnel Closed Today
Due to the tunnel roller door being replaced today, can all Rockets riders at today’s 4pm session not use the tunnel entry to the track. You can head along the bottom corridor and get to the track via the gym end or come up the stairs to the office and sneak across the track on the front straight with your bikes (this option can be awkward in cleats).

Friday Night Racing
Racing returns this Friday night from 6-8ish pm. Entry $10 so make sure you head on down and enjoy a whirl after the couple of weeks off.

Monday Closed

Guess what – it is a long weekend and that means the Velodrome will be closed on Monday 28th for Labour Day.

Wednesday Worlds
Racing got under way for the daylight saving series, so head along to Tisbury School at 6pm registration and 6.30pm racing. Entry is just $5.

Calder Stewart Race Series

Huge congratulations to the Transport Engineering /Velosouth crew who won the team series in this year’s Calder Stewart race series. Established three years ago to provide a pathway for U19/U23 and Elite men to race primarily in Calder Stewart Elite Road Series, this young Southland team gained no team points in its first year of racing and on Sunday won the overall teams series.

The team looks forward to supporting a new road series as a chapter of Calder Stewart series closes and a new format is revealed in the future

Congratulations to all the southern lads - Fraser Hewett, Matt Zenovich, Joshua Haggerty, Hamish Keast, Conor Shearing, Ben Hogan, Josh Burnett and their fellow team mates from further afield Hugo Jones, Griffyn Spencer, Logan Currie, Xander White, along with the new Southland lad Mitchel Fitzsimons all who have contributed to the team’s success. We know your sponsors will be extremely proud.

Huge well done to all our Southland riders who competed in the final series again this year.

Well that is it from me for another week – keep dry and warm out there everyone and good luck to all those who are in final preparation for the SBS Bank Tour of Southland!

Take care
