Greetings and what an epic couple of weeks it’s been but the result is proof of the massive amount of personal and club effort that has gone in over recent months as Southland is now the proud holder of the National Points Shield for seven years!! Quite some feat and the amazing personal results of every single squad member who competed at the Age Groups here and Elites & U19s in Cambridge is something to be very, very proud of.
Great job to all involved and a hearty pat on the back for all the personal improvements that have been made, the PBs that have been achieved, the records broken and the medals won. The entertainment and euphoria has been incredible!
Congrats to all competitors, and a massive thank you to all the coaches, handlers, parents and supporters who have helped to make this happen and to all our wonderful volunteers who are there every step of the way to ensure we run a ship-shape operation.
Finally, Dale and Stu – you have been absolutely mega instrumental in making this happen – both at home and in Cambridge – safe travels down the last leg of the Mainland today in your “heaving” van full of equipment and team belongings. It is totally appropriate to send you off on your next adventures with this result but it is going to be incredibly hard to let you go when you officially finish up this Friday … sigh! Thank dudeness you’ll still be around for visits, coaching and mega marathon progress updates!!!

2013 TrustPower National Community Awards
Cycling Southland will participate this weekend, in Invercargill, at the 2014 TrustPower National Community Awards after being awarded the Southland Community Supreme Award last September. There will be 25 regional winners competing represented by the mayor and up to three representatives from each regional winner.
We will be represented by Graham Sycamore, Lindsay Jordan, Darren Ludlow and Paul Duffy. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase our club and Invercargill on the national stage.
As part of this event is being held at the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome, all the attendees will be treated to some racing and sprint demos provided by our very own junior and Elite cyclists, hot after their efforts at the Track Champs, with some emcee action from Julian Ineson. Good work team!
Swipe Card Access Update
Adamson Security are in the process in the coming week or so of uploading all current Cycling swipe cards into a new database/board that is in the Stadium but not compatible with this side of the building. I will be supplying all details of recorded card numbers that have been issued and let you know when the cards will be out of action (for a few hours – to a day) as they are uploaded into the new system.
This will allow continued access to this West/tunnel side of the building.
If your card is inadvertently deactivated in this process and no longer works – or if your card has broken and been thrown out or been lost – can you also let me know moving forward as these details should be passed on to keep the security of the building up to date.
Finally, if using the side first floor door over coming days please DO NOT use the push bar door to exit the building as this is completed and utterly broken over prolongued useage in extreme winds. It will be repaired but the swipe card access should be used both accessing and exiting the building.
Tootle pip for now and see you back at regular sessions on the track
Have a good week – rest up and fingers crossed for a good result at the awards this Saturday night.
Take care out there
