Ho ho ho and a very Merry Christmas everyone – it’s only a week to go so hope you are organised and ready for a fun and enjoyable day next Wednesday

It’s been an epic year again and we can all celebrate the effort that has been put in by so many to make it another remarkable and highly successful year of events and results in the south. A big pat on the back everyone and may you be able to get a thoroughly deserved relax over this period.

So let’s kick off the final instalment for 2014 …

2014 Licencing and Memberships
It’s imminent now that your current cycling licence and memberships are going to expire from December 31 and if you plan on cycling the Track Nats you will certainly need to have a current 2014 membership and/or licence for any events outside the region. Cycling Southland events are fine with a club membership for $50. If you need any assistance please don’t hesitate to contact Melissa at or you can download forms from our site here

New Year Summer Series
All registration links for the Summer Cycling Series, including the ILT New Year Carnival, Ascot Park Hotel Crit and Gore to Invercargill are now all live and available through the web home page

Make sure you get organised and register.

2014 Summer Road Programme
The Summer Road Programme has been finalised!  Thank you for your feedback.  There are some changes to the draft programme, and some additions, including the return of the Southern Series with Otago (and possibly Wakatipu?) and a 10-hour race at Teretonga, at the end of the season.

You can check it out here:  Final Summer Road Programme

Don’t forget the Tuatapere Grass Track Racing on January 1 – good fun and great prize money!

Also, please note that tomorrow is the last day of Wednesday Worlds for 2013.  The first Wednesday Worlds next year will be on January 15, back at Rimu School.

Accommodation Required
Dunedin elite rider Patrick Jones, another cyclist from Tasmania and one from Scotland are looking at living down at Invercargill February-May next year and are looking for a house to rent so they can train and race on the track before they head back to the States. Any ideas are welcome, get in touch with me and I’ll connect you with Patrick’s mum to negotiate the options.

Tour de Lakes
The Tour de Lakes Easter race registrations are open already and the training programme  for the New Year and other event info is posted on the site click here to view

One request from Tour Manager Allan Dunn please to ponder is the availability of accommodation for a team of approximate 5 or 6 riders from Australia and Otago. They need beds in Queenstown on Friday 18 and Sunday 20 April, and in Te Anau on Saturday 19 April please. Any offers for consideration to Allan please thank you in anticipation!

So that’s it from us for 2013 folks!

The office closes this Friday at midday and will be open again from January 6 so have a super safe and happy Christmas and enjoy quality time with family and friends.

For all those preparing for the Track Nats in the New Year – keep up the great work on the bike over the holiday season – the results will be worth it and your coaches will be pleased as punch!

Merry Christmas from us all at Cycling Southland
