Hi folks and can you believe the weather we’re experiencing for the SBS Bank Tour of Southland – the riders are getting tans not trauma from howling winds, sleet and snow. It’s just brilliant and, even if this Friday and Saturday looks like packing a bit of a sad, I think everyone will cope with the experience because that’s what the Tour of Southland is all about.
The atmosphere out on the road is superb and the titles are open slather as the coveted yellow jersey changes hands on a daily basis. Keep a close eye on the live commentary here – although there will be some coverage issues today as they wind their way to Te Anau.

It’s very exciting indeed and great to have the SBS Bank team on board along with so many other generous sponsors from around the circuit for this fantastic event.
Now for a couple of quick bits of business …
Elite / Under 19 Squad still a go sorry
There will still be squad training this Friday night 8 November despite the message in the earlier email - I'm being given mixed messages!
Junior Division meeting
A Junior Division meeting will be held next Wednesday 13 November, at 7pm, in the Cycling Southland office. All welcome to attend.
Baxter & Neilson Junior Racing
A reminder that this will be going ahead next Friday 15 November in conjunction with the opening night celebrations for the Cycling Southland 50th anniversary here at the Velodrome. On the eve of the UCI Festival of Speed it will certainly make for a great night of action!
Road Racing and Wednesday Worlds
Just a reminder that there is no road racing or Wednesday Worlds this week. The next Wednesday Worlds will be held on 13 November.
With the UCI Festival of Speed 16 & 17 November and Oceania Track Champs 19-22 November there will be no road race again on 16 November and no Wednesday World on 20 November.
The next Saturday race will be 23 November with the Winton Golf Course Graded Circuit – the 5th in the Winter (or should we now say Summer) Series. Click here to enter
So apart from having a day to catch up in the office today, that’s all for me from now.
Enjoy the rest of the Tour and we’d love to see you down supporting everyone on the final day on Saturday when things finish up at Gala Street around 3.30pm.
Have a great remainder of your week
Ciao for now
