Saturdays race turned out to be an exciting handicap that saw the majority of the field come together with only 500m to the finish line.

Break managed to catch limit just before a gradient that saw some hairy maneuvers executed just before the finish as 40 odd riders battled it out for the prize money. Luke Macpherson riding off break at 22min managed to hit the finish line just before Tom Beadle and Ray Robinson(both break )-time 1hr 32.  Disqualification of the first rider across the line due to an illegal overtaking maneuver marred the final result. Kirk Hamilton was the fastest of the day riding from scratch in a time of 1hr29.

The undulating course at Thornbury/Fairfax ,finishing at the Riverton Cemetery of 58kms was held in overcast and windy conditions and with 60 participants.

Many thanks to all those that made the event possible especially Lindsay Tait-Jones, Andrea & Caleb Hope who did a sterling job helping Lindsay, Dale Tye, Bruce Ross and Robin Criglington and obviously all the marshals.

Cheers

Tom Sexton and Hayden Strong chased for 6 km hauling in the breakaway with a huge shared effort.
