Cycling Southland members featured strongly in the 2012 Lake Dunstan Cycle Classic held over 96 kilometres in Central Otago on  Sunday.

Dunedin's Joe Chapman won a sprint finish to take out the overall and Male 20-34 title in a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and 41 seconds, a solitary second ahead of Hamish Tomlinson with Otago's Brad Evans third across the line. Liam Aitcheson finished fifth overall to claim second behind Evans in the Under 20 category.

Ray Robinson pipped Steve Brough to claim the Male 55+ win while Sam Kopae also took out the Female 45-54 age bracket.
