Stage 1 – Beast of the East

Another great day for racing with the sun out and little wind, plenty of riders turning out made it a great day racing. In  A grade Brendan Akeroyd decided to break away and got himself a very good lead on the 1st lap making the bunch behind work really hard to catch him. However, he was finally caught by Josh Haggerty, Mat Zenovich and Mitchel Fitzsimons who came over the line in that order.

Most of B grade stayed together throughout the whole race, however with 200m to the finish line a few riders decided to jostle with each other for position causing Wally Kopae to hit their back wheel and end up skidding along the road (I hope you’ve healed up ok Wally) which caused Josh Miller to end up in a ditch, while Marty Lohrey took good control of his bike narrowly missing the fall. Gary Smith finally came over the line in 1st place followed by Neil Familton and Ewan Syme. Thanks to riders and support vehicles who stopped and assisted those riders who were in the crash.

C Grade stayed together for most of the race with Tony Hamington coming over the line 1st followed by Lachie Baird and Emily Paterson.

Stage 2 – New Vale Circuit

Some great racing again in A Grade by Brendan and Mike White with an early break away again, however this didn’t last long with a change on the 2nd being  Zeno and Brendan and holding this until the finish line with Zeno coming over 1st, then Brendan A followed by Hamish Beadle.

B Grade started with a hiss and a roar with the sponsor Steve Rhodes showing the boys what he can do and breaking away in the 1st lap. 2nd lap around he was joined by Jake Willis, however at the finish line it was Neil Fam, Grant Colburn and Jake Willis coming over in that order. C Grade mianly stayed together throughout the race with young Morgan Borrie putting on the pressure at the hill climb to finally take out a 1st place win followed a wee way back by Tony Hamington and Alan Milne.
